Tis the Season

Greetings! Just thought I'd take a moment to share the latest events in our lives. This past weekend our realtor invited us to their open house. If you donate a toy to Toys for Tots they give you a 6 to 8 foot Christmas tree. So, what a better way to get a tree--donate to a good cause and get a tree in return! It was a nice little event with cookies and cider and even Santa was there! Owen did not get a chance to sit on his lap but I figure there is still time for that this year. Plus, I have a feeling he isn't going to like Santa too much this year! (he's developed a little stranger anxiety) Our realtor insisted we get an 8 foot tree but we weren't so sure about that...Lo and behold it was too tall for our living room! Needless to say, our tree does not have its star this year...oh well. It still looks nice! Owen is very intrigued by it and of course, when I say don't touch that means (in his mind) that it's ok. So he goes around saying, "touch" and touching it whenever he can. He also loves to go up to the shiny ornaments and look at himself. When he sees himself he goes, "YOU!" Obviously his reasoning behind that is every time I point to him in a picture or mirror I go, "that's you" so of course, it's you in the ornament too! The other funny thing about the tree was when it first came in the house he kept looking at it and saying "birdie!" He was trying to find the birds because,as we all know, birds live in trees! Here are a couple of pics of the tree. I tried my best to get the glowing effect of the tree but that is easier said than done!

"Touch!" (I must say it is nice to have the tree in an area where Owen does not play!)

This year, I also thought it would be fun and very Martha Stewart-like of me to make luminaries. I was planning on making 12 and putting them all the way down our front sidewalk. I have made 2! They are a snowflake pattern and the most tedious craft I have ever done. I may still try and accomplish them one by one! I just thought it would look pretty! Here are the best photos I could get at night of them!

Yesterday, the snow was so pretty and Owen was bored so I thought it would be fun to try out his new boots and snowsuit (thanks Grandma!) He looked so darn cute in this fat little snowsuit. The only thing I struggled with was the mittens. I couldn't get his thumb in the thumb part and once we got outside he wanted nothing to do with them! He was shoveling snow with a sandbox shovel and did not mind one bit that he was getting snow all over his hands! That's when I decided it was time to come back in. We spent 30 minutes outside and he had a good ol' time. He was swinging on his swing, going down the slide, and shoveling snow. I think he likes wearing his big boots too.

Not too sure about this...

Well, this is getting a little long winded....not much else going on right now anyways! More later-time to go cozy up with a blanket and tea!
