Owen's Birthday Week

Hello!
This past week has been a pretty fun week. As you probably know, Owen turned 2 on Tuesday May 5th so we had to do something special for him, of course! We ended up going to Como Zoo and out to lunch before Tom had to work. Owen adores the animals and always has so much fun there. He is a little afraid of the seals and their barking noise but still loves to talk about them afterwards. He also loves the "raffes" (giraffes) and could probably stand there and watch them all day. After the zoo, we went to one of Tom's favorite Chinese restaurants in Roseville, of all places! Owen was so well behaved and sat there and ate his lunch like a good little boy. :) It consisted of french fries, chicken nuggets (chinese style), a few bites of cream cheese wonton (Owen calls them chips) and a fortune cookie. Yeah, not so healthy but it was his birthday! A nice elderly lady was walking by as we were eating and said, "you are a nice little boy." Owen just replies, "yeah." It was very sweet. Then, that evening, after dinner, I took him to Culver's for a special treat. He even told the cashier he was getting a special treat! Too cute. I got him a vanilla ice cream cone and he LOVED it. He has had ice cream before but never in a cone so it was pretty fun to watch. Although, it was unbelievably messy!! Owen couldn't eat it fast enough so needless to say a lot of it melted onto his shirt. I wish I would have had my camera with but I didn't feel like lugging it to Culver's! It was a great day!
This past weekend was also a fun filled weekend. Owen's birthday party was on Saturday and he had a great time having lots of family and friends there. We, of course, missed those that could not be there! The part pretty much consisted of eating, playing, opening presents, and more eating! Owen received lots of fun presents and had a fun time ripping all the paper. He got lots of books and every time he opened a book, he would say in his sweet little voice, "oh, another book." We definitely all had a great time being with our family and friends!
Sunday, we hosted a Mother's day brunch for family that were still in town and that turned out really nice. My parents, grandparents, and sister stayed overnight so they were all there. It was nice to spend some time with some great moms on mother's day. Tom and I are very fortunate to have such wonderful mothers in our lives!
Later that day, we went to Lowe's and got supplies to make a raised vegetable garden for in our back yard. I came home from work yesterday and Tom had it all finished and stained! It looks really nice and I hope the garden turns out as well! Overall, it was a very nice Mother's day and a lovely weekend! THANKS EVERYONE!
Now, I need to start packing! Tom has a conference in Chicago this weekend so I am going to join him. Owen gets to go vacation at Grandma's house for a few days and I am sure he will have a blast! I am going to miss him but I know that it will be a nice little vacation for Tom and I as well. Now, what you have all been waiting for...the pictures! Have a nice day!

Oh and one last thing that I find exciting. I discovered we have an apple tree! It has been really fun to see what is growing in our yard since we moved in this house during the winter. I also discovered we have many lilac trees, which I love! Yay! Here are a few pics of the apple tree :)
