Croup

Hello! So sorry I haven't blogged in a while. There really isn't a whole lot of new and exciting things going on these days for it to be "blog-worthy!" Ha. We also really haven't been doing much because last Tuesday Owen came down with a slight fever and just a little cough. Well, the next day it turned into a bigger fever and croup! Our poor little guy was miserable! We were supposed to go to the zoo and get 2 year pictures taken last week but lets just say that didn't happen! So..instead it was a lot of popsicle eating and watching animals on DVD. That is as close to the zoo as we were going to get. Although, Owen seemed to be OK with all of the popsicle eating. He felt so miserable sometimes that is all I could get him to eat. One of those nights (it's all a blur) we ended up going to urgent care because he was having these horrible coughing fits. And if you know what croup sounds like, it sounds terrible! Unfortunately, there wasn't anything they could do for him. So, every night we would sit in the bathroom with the shower on a full blast of hot water and I set the humidifier in his room as well. It seemed to help a little....I would say just yesterday his cough has greatly improved. (oh and his fever did go away on Friday or so) I am so glad he's better! I felt so helpless and I was going stir crazy at the same time. Not leaving the house for 3 days really takes a toll! Then of course it was cold and rainy all weekend...Oh well. The only plus side of Owen being sick was that he was incredibly cuddly. Nothing better than cuddling with your little boy! Now we've been working on "retraining" Owen. It's hard to teach a 2 year old that the only time you can get your way 24/7 and have popsicles and ice cream for dinner is when you are sick--not all the time! :) He he. Anyways, I don't have any pics to post this time. Owen is getting his 2 year pics taken tomorrow so I'll take some of him in his outfit and post them ASAP. But, here are a few cute things Owen has said lately for your reading pleasure:

"Bless you mommy" (after sneezing)

One night at the dinner table (Tom was at work): "Daddy come back later. Come see you. Come say hi."

"I hit way far!" (playing tee-ball)

"That funny. Owen funny."

After discovering Owen naked in his crib in the morning (this has happened multiple occasions): "Take diaper off. Diaper all wet. Need new one." (Too bad he has little interest in sitting on the potty chair!)

My brain is shot (I've been studying for the GRE) and I'm sure there are more cute things he has said lately. If I think of them I'll post them! Now I should probably go get Owen up from his nap and get outside. The sun is shining! Have a nice day!
