Friday
* Arrive in Duluth, have lunch with my grandparents. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for feeding us! It was good to see you! Also, a developer is currently destroying the woods next to their house so Owen absolutely had to go see the bulldozer and digger!
* Head up to CSS campus, visit with old friends, coaches etc...
* Dinner with friends of ours at Taste of Saigon (a restaurant we frequented when we lived there!)
* Walk along the lakewalk, throw a couple rocks in the lake (Owen wasn't too sure about the loud waves), check out Canal Park and the Duluth Pack store
* To the hotel where Owen got to swim in the pool. He was not too sure about getting in but once he was in he had a blast jumping in the pool over and over....
Saturday
*Breakfast at Bixby's Cafe--great little place
*Rose garden--such a beautiful place. Owen especially loved playing in the "zebo" (gazebo) The train just happened to go by and even though he loves his train set he wasn't too sure about the real thing!
*Forest Hills Cemetery (where my grandpa was buried.) It is a really pretty place... for a cemetery! There are very hungry ducks there that I remember feeding as a child so I thought it would be something Owen would have fun with too. He wasn't too sure at first because the ducks know you have food and they practically attack you but then he really got into it. He even had a conversation with the ducks that went something like this: "hi ducks. Do you like bread? You do, don't you?" I think there was more to it but he says so many funny things a day that I can't keep track. I need to be better at writing these things down!
*Back to campus to socialize with some more friends--we took some photos in front of the "castle" while we were there. Owen and Tom played an exciting game of hide and seek.
*A nice visit with my Grandma Witzig. She also fed us cookies, ice cream and peaches. Thanks grandma! It was nice to see you!
Then it was time to go home in order to pick up the dog from the kennel so we didn't get charged for another night! Overall, it was a really fun trip. I'm hoping next time we can stay the whole weekend so we have more time to do other things!
Other than that, nothing too exciting going on. Owen started ECFE last Wednesday and will be doing it every Wed from 9 to 10:30. He absolutely had a blast the first day singing songs, painting, doing puzzles, playing with rice, toys etc...When it was time to go to parent class Owen did not care--he was too busy! I guess that is a good thing! But, he had a big smile on his face when we reunited :)
Oh there is one funny thing Owen did say last night in the car that I have to mention!
We were driving past soccer fields in Stilwater:
Tom: "Someday that will be you playing soccer."
Owen: incredulously says, "what?!! Don't gimme that soccer balls. I don't play soccer balls!"
It was HYSTERICAL! Kids really do say the darndest things!
On one last side note before I put photos up. One of our realtor friends wanted me to take pictures of a new listing of his. So...I am being hired to take some photos. Should be interesting since houses aren't my usual subjects! Maybe this will be a second career?? Who knows! Have a great Sunday!
Windy!
Owen said, "that doesn't go there! We need to get a ladder and a tool and get it out!" HA!
My boys!
He had more fun just playing with rocks
One of the two times he actually threw a rock in the lake
Watching the horse go by
The lift bridge
Jumping in!
Kicking!
Up high!
Owen splashing! HA HA
So tired.
The rose garden
The "zebo" was the most fun!
He said he was hiding in the bushes
More hiding
Choo, choo!
Feeding the ducks
Loving it!
The "castle"
Hide and seek time
He cheats a little :)
Our little family
