Visit with the Fam

Hello! Sorry it has been so long! I figure if there is nothing interesting to blog about I should really just wait until there is--not worth boring everyone! Well, this will be quick as the little man has to go to bed soon! This past weekend Tom had to work so Owen and I went to La Crosse to visit my parents. It was a very nice weekend. Owen loves to visit grandma and grandpa and, as always, I was no longer #1! Oh well, that's the way it should be, right? :) We went to an apple orchard this year that we have never been to before and Owen had lots of fun. He loved the pumpkin patch and kept very busy putting them in a barrel and organizing them in a line.
He also got to:
~watch the goats and pigs and feed the goats some grass
~chase the chickens and say"buck, buck, buck" as he watched them wander around.
~ climb to the top of the big hay bale (with some help from grandma)
~take a little ride on the toy tractors (which he couldn't quite figure out how to pedal!) I guess he's still a bit too little for that!
The next day we also got the traditional "how tall this fall" pic at the orchard we usually go to. Other than that, we just had a great time hanging out with the family, as always!
The other thing my mom and I accomplished was getting Owen's room all decked out in big boy room decor! On Friday on the way into town I met my mom at the Company Store outlet. I have been looking for a comforter or something for Owen's big boy bed for a little while now and haven't found anything I've loved or that was reasonably priced. Well...at the store I found some really cute queen sheets and I thought, we could totally sew these sheets and make a duvet cover for a comforter that I already have at home! The great thing was, they were 50% off the marked down price and I got them for a grand total of $27! It was so much better than the $80 I was going to spend on a duvet cover for Owen. There was even fabric left over to make valances and a pillowcase to match! So, I'm super excited because it turned out super cute and it was so CHEAP! Who doesn't love a good deal?! Owen's room is that much closer to being finished but I'm going to wait on the big boy bed. I am not ready for that battle yet! OK, time for Owen to go to bed.
