Linked 52: Sleep

Well, this week's theme was sleep.....

Sleep, you say?  What's that??

Where can I get some?

I'm not a coffee drinker but I might have to start.....

Coming off another rough night....

What almost 6 month old gets up every 2-3 hours??  I don't recall this with my first... Of course my second is not my first so why would they be the same? Ha.

He sleeps not so good at night and guess what?

He sleeps not so good during the day either.  Little cat naps.  He wakes up at the 30 to 45 minute mark every time. It's like clockwork. And he's not happy so I know he's tired.  But he struggles to get back to sleep.....

2 days ago a little miracle happened...he took a nap for 2 hours!  Well that hasn't happened since...

But, to get to sleep he has been doing this thing with his little lovey....He likes it over his face....I thought maybe it was the secret but I guess not.

So here he is...little Max.....actually sleeping...

with a blanket over his face and his little hand holding his foot.

Don't worry...the blanket was removed.

Who sleeps like that?

Not the most amazing pic ever but it's real life.

And folks, that's what I'm living right now. Real life.  The not so fun part of being a mom.... where I'm almost off my rocker because I'm not sleeping.

Anyone have any amazing tips on how to get a baby to sleep? I've scoured the internet, I have a sleep book.  Not finding anything earth shattering here.

I would be forever indebted to you. :)

OK.

Pardon my rambling....I need some sleep.

And don't worry, I still love my little baby with all of my heart.

There once was a day when I longed for sleepless nights....

Sometimes it's just hard..... it wears on you.

Go check out all of the others who are hopefully getting more sleep than I am!!

I am sooooo loving all of your baby posts here and on instagram. This shot just screams "baby" to me bc my daughter slept like this too, with her blanky on her head. (I still find her that way!)
And I'm not a coffee drinker either! :) Happy weekend!

no sleep is soooo hard! I am struggling with it lately too!!! All i want is ONE night where I sleep straight for at LEAST 7 hours. That sounds lovely (and unlikely!)

i wish i had some great advice for you. not sleeping is SO hard. my boy nursed every single 2 hours until he was 6 months old so we didn't get much sleep when he was a baby either. i won't tell you when he finally started sleeping through the night. something that made a big difference for me was having my kids in a strong routine. they always slept better when we stuck to it. here's hoping you get some sleep soon. i love how he's holding his foot in that photo and still sleeping. too cute.

I wish I could say I was getting more sleep that you but alas no, I wish it was because of a baby!!

What a cutie sleeping like that with his blanket on his head. LOL. Wish I had some advice for you...Max was the worst! I had to hold him for naps every day for MONTHS. Seriously. And he was an awful night sleeper...no consistency. Up once one night and then three times the next. It was awful and I thought it was totally normal baby behavior, until I started talking to some friends. Lack of sleep will make you crazy too...it's a form of torture, really. Hang in there. Get cat naps when you can, get the hubby to take night shift some nights...I'm sure you've heard all of these ideas already. ;)
You're doing good, Momma! Sleep will come for us one of these days.

Even with older kids, I have the opportunity to get more sleep at night and I don't (like I talked about in my post.)

What worked for me? White noise. I know it's not for everyone but it has been magic for my kids. When they were little babies I would run a fan in the room to help drown out outside noise. It's not blowing on them - just an oscillating fan in the corner facing the wall. There are even some great white noise apps we have on our iPhones for when we travel. Even to this day we all still sleep with fan noise, even my husband and I. Crazy but for us it works!

Going through the same over here. Our boys are almost the same age, must be developmental. At least that is what I'm telling myself! So I have no advice just support. Love your pics!

oh man. i hear ya.
our first was like that.
he didn't sleep through the night until he was over a year.
yikes.
i still don't know how we survived it AND decided to have 3 more. HAHA.

the only thing that ended up working for us was the "cry it out" method. it was torture. but it only took 3 nights. it's not for everyone, but it worked for us :)

Great photo!
Oh, I hear ya about the lack of sleep making you crazy.
My advice, which you've probably already heard, but works for me is white noise. Room darkening shades too. If he's covering his face, maybe it's too light, and the blanket would drown out some sound too. Do you nurse? If so, are you drinking or eating any other caffeine?
My oldest son was a light sleeper and he still is. He's now 24 and wakes up when his girlfriend rolls over. I could always walk into his room and just stand still and he would wake up. I keep telling him to go get a sleep study done while he is still under our insurance, but...he still won't listen to his momma!
I hope you can find something that works so you get some relief soon.
Have someone watch him at their house for several hours and take a nap.

Oh I remember those day so well! It is so hard to function on so little sleep! I swear by The Sleepeasy Solution book. There is a website too. It worked with both my boys. The have slept though the night since 6 months old. It is an easy read. Good Luck! And the photo is priceless. My boys had little blankets too. They still do... ;)

My kids were always really good sleepers so I really can't relate. I know, you hate me right now. I would too if I was insanely tired and someone just rubbed that in my face.
That's exactly (minus the foot thing) how My James used to sleep. He would put his "night" (what we called his lovey) over his face and fall asleep. I always thought it made him kind of like a bird.
Wish I could help you with your sleeping problem.

Oh goodness, I love how he's sleeping while holding his foot. Our little beans do the funniest things in their sleep, don't they!?

Love this shot---REAL LIFE at the best. For at least a short while there was sleep. I feel for you----our guy is 2 and we still don't sleep through the night 4-5 days out of the week. On the plus side, he goes back to sleep eaiser than he used too.

Keeping it real Naomi and we all appreciate it so much! The sleep deprivation has to be the hardest and the cumulative affect really kills a person, 1 day is fine but several weeks and months with no sleep is awful. Praying for some sleep for you! You deserve it! xoxo

Oh yes. The sleep deprived days of motherhood are definitely the hardest. I remember those times. Sitting up in the night looking out the window and wondering if anyone else on the planet was awake! :) He is such a cutie though. I think he's probably worth it!

A very sweet pic, Naomi.
And I'm so sorry you have had such the time with the sleep. I'm praying it gets better soon. You deserve a night out and a big 'ole glass of wine. :-)

Oh, Naomi! Where has the time gone??? CONGRATULATIONS!! He is absolutely precious and I really love his name. :)

P.S. We let Luke sleep with me in the big bed for the 1st few months (he was a BIG nurser) and it made a huge difference.
