Mommy's Little Helper

Greetings!
I thought decorating a gingerbread house would be a fun little project for Owen and I so we attempted to do that today. He really tries his best to help but sometimes his helping is not really helpful! :) His first little oops was when he grabbed the bag of candy pieces that were in the shape of small little balls and proceeded to open the bag so they went flying all over the kitchen! Of course, with Sadie in the kitchen she goes for anything on the floor so let's just say it was a minor catastrophe! After that, it went a bit smoother. He had fun placing the gumdrops on top of the roof and placing those lovely little candy pieces all over the house. He also put the gumdrop trees in spots where I told him to. It turned out as good as could be expected and it definitely had Owen's touch--pretty cute!
We also made ginger snaps after decorating as the smell of the gingerbread house made me crave some ginger cookies. Owen was very helpful and poured all of the ingredients in the bowl for me. Not so helpful was when he attempted to stir everything and flung cookie dough and cinnamon all over the counter, chair, and floor....What can I say, he tries! I'm sure as he gets older these things will become much easier for him and me. Even if we have a few kerfuffles throughout, it is still really fun to watch Owen have so much fun and create traditions that hopefully will continue on through the years....

Havin' a good ol' time

Owen also got new winter boots today--loves them! Once he got them on he goes, "they're cute!"
