A Winter Walk

Well, in continuing on with sharing my thoughts and being real...this post is another one of those.  Thank you to those who sent me such thoughtful emails and posted such kind comments. They mean so much! I am blessed to have you all in my life.  Thank you.

If you didn't know.....  Max regressed in his sleep about a month or so ago.  He started getting up every 3 to 4 hours.  Then, last week, Owen got pretty sick.  4 days of fever, sore throat, sniffles, cough etc....He was beyond miserable.  He was whiny, demanding.... did I mention miserable?  He was sleeping terribly. Then, Max decided that he needed to wake up more frequently too.  Say every 1 to 3 hours. Super awesome. It's very hard to go from a baby that is sleeping 8 to 5 am to up all night!

I was trying so hard to be patient with Owen but after day 2 of constant whining and crying...it was very trying.  I was doing everything I possibly could to help him but there was only so much I could do.

So, what do you get when you cross a mom who hasn't slept in more than a month, one who is stuck inside the house for 4 days, and one who is trying so hard to be nurturing and sympathetic to a child who cries and whines 24/7? (and all of the effort goes nowhere....)

You get a crazy one. Oh yes, you do.

Just ask my husband.

Let's just say one day...I kinda lost it.  I needed out.

So my awesome husband took over.

I went out to lunch, by myself.  It was lovely.

I went shopping.

I went on a walk because the weather was gorgeous.

I took some pictures.

Sometimes mommies just need a break.

Thank you to my dear husband for taking over and putting up with me on my not so good days. :)

Owen is now feeling so much better.  He has gone from this:

To this:

He still has a bit of a cough but  I will take it!  Owen even said this morning...."Mommy, I'm feelin' much better."

Oh and guess what?! Max is sleeping SO MUCH BETTER.  He also rolled onto his tummy last night for the first time!

It's amazing what a little sleep does for the soul. :)

I don't know where I heard it but I heard one day....

After a hurricane comes a rainbow.....

That was one mighty hurricane for me to endure.

But, I sure am enjoying the rainbow.

Let's hope it lasts!

I agree that getting away and snapping photos of beautiful things is a life saver sometimes. Glad things are looking up for you!

Finally some much needed sleep!! So happy you were able to get away from it all by yourself, but even more happy that Owen is better and Max is sleeping. Can't wait to see you next week!

i have to say, i am so impressed with how often you get out for walks and such... to enjoy nature... with such a young one... and and older one in addition!

i long to get out in this cold and snow to get some photos, but i feel like i have not had the chance or i'm too cold to leave the house. i'm starting to get cabin fever, though. i'm just not a winter gal. but, i really should document at least one day of winter with isaac at this age. you've inspired me to do so this week or weekend... before all the snow melts.

i'm absolutely loving all these shots... especially the road/path pics. my fave!
